Keep It Colorado

Joining forces to advance shared goals.

The Colorado Conservation Trust is proud to have joined forces with three leading national conservation organization and a leading statewide land trust to increase the pace of conservation in Colorado. By articulating shared goals as well as pooling resources and expertise, this unique partnership has researched and qualified twenty-five landscapes in which protection is critical to the health of our citizenry, ecosystems, economy and way of life in Colorado. This work comprises the most detailed priority landscape inventory ever undertaken in Colorado. This group’s collaboration continues as we work to secure additional funding to implement our collective vision. CCT is the managing partner of this coalition. Our partners are The Trust for Public Lands, The Conservation Fund, The Nature Conservancy and Colorado Open Lands. Side by side with local efforts, the Keep It Colorado partnership is combining strengths and core competencies to achieve a focused, strategic and collaborative land and water conservation vision for all of Colorado.

Moving Forward
The CCP partners will seek to develop innovative and significant funding sources in order to secure lands in this advantageous real estate market. CCT has taken the lead on researching funding prospects and has put together a portfolio of representative properties that the partners currently are working to conserve.

Additionally, the partnership has been named a model for the “America’s Great Outdoors” program under development at this time in the U.S. Departments of Interior and Agriculture.  A key priority for CCT in 2011 is to work with Federal officials overseeing “America’s Great Outdoors” to make this critical new federal program a reality.
